Due to the high content of graphics some pages make take a minute to download. The ceremony took place on a gorgeous tropical afternoon, at hacienda Siesta Alegre, in the lap of El Yunque tropical rain forest on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. We would like to express our most sincere gratitude to all our wedding guests -family and friends, and the many well-wishers who could not attend but kept us warmly in their thoughts and shared in our happiness.
Thanks to you, we begin a new chapter in our lives with wide smiles and fond memories. Nancy and I wanted everything to be special, completely original, and not store-bought. So we designed and made our invitations, reply cards and all envelopes from scratch.
We also wanted the text to be poetic and not too formal. This took some time. But after many evenings of discussion, we finally decided on the wording and wrote two versions -one for our Spanish speaking guests and one for our English speaking guests.
When the printed text was done and cut to size, we fixed the velum over reproductions of an original painting which I painted for the occasion using a small silk bow and flower, and a set of miniature gold rings.
Nancy patiently glued the entire group together flower, silk bow, rings and glass gem for one hundred invitations. The glass gem on one of the rings is of sapphire blue representing the stone on Nancy's engagement ring.
Neither Nancy nor I are into diamonds. We prefer colour gems although I'm not big on wearing jewellery at all. The lower part of the velum was left unglued so that it could be lifted to reveal the painting.
The digital painting was done in Adobe PhotoShop and copies printed on cardboard stock at our local Staples store inexpensive fast printing. The finished invitation was 5.
En uno de los anillos coloco un cristal de azul zafiro para representar su anillo de compromiso. A nosotros no nos cautivan los diamantes, sino que preferimos joyas de colores a pesar de que yo no gusto usar joyas.
They were made out of four separate pieces paste together: Since most of our guests from the United States had never visited Puerto Rico, we wanted the invitation to look exciting, exotic, and informative. So we chose nautical motifs and a map of the island printed in vivid colour.
After the art was completed, the designs were printed on good quality paper that felt like parchment. Then the pieces were cut to size and pasted to create the envelopes.
This process was labour-intensive and, in spite of not having to pay for the art work, and in spite of doing all the printing in a fast copy place about 50 cents per colour copythe cost of producing all the wedding stationary could be equal of more than simply buying ready-made invitations from a wedding shop.
But the result of our one-of-a-kind invitations was priceless to us.Jul 17, · Jordan Pond off Route 9 In Shrewsbury, MA.
